Sue Proctor (Winnipeg) WORKSHOP: Storytelling with puppets, (45 min) 16 places.
Sue Proctor is a storyteller, performer and workshop leader who has developed many original stories and theatre pieces using puppets and clown. A teacher with Manitoba Theatre for Young People, and Manitoba Artists in the Schools, Sue has presented for many years at the Winnipeg International Storytelling Festival, children’s festivals and cabarets across Canada. Sue has an M.A. in theatre and community.

Grant Hayter-Menzies (Sidney, B.C.) TALK: Shadow Woman: The extraordinary career of Pauline Benton (30 min)
Grant will discuss Benton’s work and display rare antique Chinese shadow puppets fromthe collection of the late Beijing shadow master, CuiYongping. A book signing follows at Munro’s Books (across Government Street from the Bay Centre – Canada’s most beautiful bookstore.) (poster)

Sustrisno Hartana (Javanese Dalang / puppet master) (up to 1 hr.) DEMONSTRATION: Wayang Kulit – Indonesian shadow puppet – Demonstration.
Sutrisno Hartana is an interdisciplinary performer in the Javanese tradition, an official court musician of Paku Alaman palace in Java, as well as shadow puppeteer. Hartana currently is completing his Ph.D. program at the University of Victoria. (bio) (photo)(photo)
